NMT Go Above & Beyond!
A recent trip to South Africa with Craig Jennings - during May proved to be a fruitful one, we managed to gain some great new clients and already got shipments underway, and through the power of LinkedIn a lot of our current clients knew that Craig would be in South Africa over May, resulting in many reaching out for a general catch up, quick drink or even to let us know that they have 20 units of ADT’s and Wheel Loaders coming in from Sweden, a great job well done by the NMT team already - and more to come at that… resulting in a very happy customer!Â
During Craig’s many face to face meetings over the 2+ weeks there, we have done several quotes and bookings already, again making it a very fruitful month, so we would like to extend our thanks to all of our new, existing and even potential clients.Â
The trip then turned from a great load of meetings and catch ups to Craig visiting the dock to overlook the delivery, staging and loading of a  vessel to a Liebherr LG1550 crane to one of NMT Holland’s great customers, the cranes final destination would be Houston USA. The package consisted of 76 pieces which was delivered to Durban using 28 lowbeds driven from Johannesburg to Durban (600km) Within 3-4 days working 15/16hr days the cargo was off loaded in Durban port and staged on quay awaiting the vessels arrival. Next morning the Vessel arrived and loaded the 76 pieces by crane into the ships hull started, the main event naturally was lifting the 90 tonne main crane unit into the vessel.Â
The 75 parts that followed piece by piece loaded to trucks/trailers at staging area and driven to the vessel to again, be craned into the vessel and it was done with great timing and efficiency, taking less than 3 days (although very long days working into the early hours) A great team effort to get the vessel away on time - “a big shout out to our agents and all the staff involved, they were simply brilliant to work with and did a super job”Â
Over the course of this trip Craig has been able to improve and gain on many customer relations, which to us, is important - and this is why the trip wasn’t over yet! During the visit, NMT held a corporate event at Loftus Versveld in Pretoria, a rugby match between the Bulls and the Durban Sharks, the day started with a big group bus trip from Johannesburg to Pretoria, where a great night and was had with our customers. Being able to get around to see our existing, new and even potential customers is always a necessity in this job, and being able to do so on a large scale is a great opportunity.Â
